Shakuhachi bamboo flute

The shakuhachi is an ancient Japanese

bamboo flute.The flute was originally

played by monks as a type of Zen called

'Suizen' or blowing Zen.This unique instrument

is made from a very thick type of bamboo

called 'madake'.There are 4 holes in the

front and one in the back and the standard

shakuhachi produces the pitches D F G A C.
